Thinking about installing a swimming pool but unsure if a fibre pool is the right choice? Factors like cost, durability, installation time and maintenance are worth considering before making your decision.
The good news is that fibre pools offer several benefits, depending on your space, budget and lifestyle.
What Is a Fibre Pool?
A fibre pool, also known as a fibreglass pool, is made from a pre-manufactured fibreglass shell. Unlike concrete pools, which are built on-site, the shell is manufactured beforehand and installed in a prepared space.
Why Choose a Fibre Pool?
1. Easier Maintenance
Its smooth, non-porous surface makes cleaning easier and helps reduce algae buildup. However, regular cleaning, filtration and water treatment are still necessary.
2. Durability
A quality fibre pool can last for many years when properly installed and maintained. Soil conditions, installation quality and regular care all play important roles.
3. Faster Installation
Since the pool shell is manufactured beforehand, installation can be quicker than building a concrete pool from scratch. The actual timeline depends on site preparation and other project requirements.
4. Different Design Options
Fibre pools come in various shapes, sizes and colours. However, customisation is more limited than with concrete pools, which offer greater design flexibility.
Are Fibre Pools Suitable for Nigerian Homes?
Yes, they can be suitable, provided the site is properly assessed. Factors such as soil conditions, drainage, available space and accessibility should be considered before installation.
So, Are Fibre Pools Worth It?
Fibre pools can be a worthwhile investment if you’re looking for a smooth finish, easier maintenance and a potentially quicker installation process.
Before deciding, consider your budget, space, preferred design and long-term maintenance needs. A professional assessment can help you determine whether a fibre pool is right for your property.
